7 Signs You Need a Website Update (like yesterday!)
As your business grows, your website should grow with you. But for many small businesses — especially the independent, women-owned brands we work with at Fleurish, ink. — your website often sits quietly in the corner while everything else changes. If you’re wondering whether it’s time for a refresh (or a full rebuild), here are the signs to look for:
1. Your business has evolved — but your website hasn’t.
Maybe you launched quickly with what you thought your services or products would be… and now, a couple years in, you’ve realized things look very different. If your offerings, pricing, or processes have shifted, your site needs to reflect where you are now, not where you started.
2. You have a clearer, more specific audience.
Your ideal client today is probably not who you imagined on day one. As your business matures, so does your understanding of who you’re speaking to. If your site’s copy, visuals, or overall messaging aren’t tailored to your current, more defined audience, an update can make your website work harder for you.
3. You haven’t been updating your website regularly.
If you haven’t touched your site in months (or years), your theme or plugins may be out of date… and outdated tech often leads to glitches, slow load times, or pages that behave oddly.
This doesn’t always mean you need a full rebuild — sometimes a strategic tune-up can revive your design, content, and backend.
4. You have a blog… but it’s collecting dust.
A neglected blog is worse than no blog at all. It signals inconsistency and doesn’t help your SEO strategy. Either commit to posting regularly or archive the blog entirely — and if you want to revive it, Fleurish, ink. can help you develop a plan that’s realistic and sustainable.
5. You’re considering switching platforms.
Maybe you started on WordPress and it feels too complex, so you’re eyeing Squarespace for simplicity. Or maybe you’ve outgrown Squarespace and need the customization WordPress provides. Platform shifts are a common sign that it’s time to rethink your entire web experience.
6. You’re missing functionality you now need.
Online scheduling? A shop? Membership content? Advanced forms?
If the platform or template you’re using can’t support the features your business now requires, a rebuild (or an upgrade) may be necessary to give you the flexibility and functionality you need.
7. It’s been more than a year or two.
Digital design trends move quickly — and so do the needs of your customers. If it’s been 18–24 months since your last update, you’re likely overdue. Even a smaller refresh can make the experience feel modern, aligned, and intentional.
Ready to refresh? We’d love to help.
Whether you need a full redesign, a new platform, or a strategic tune-up, Fleurish, ink. can guide you through your next website chapter — so your online presence truly reflects the business you’ve built.
